When my best friend finally decided to tie the knot I was really excited for her, and when she asked me to be one of her bridesmaids I was over the moon. One of the most stressful things about being her bridesmaid though was organising the hen party, but luckily I had plenty of help from the other bridesmaids. We had fairly strict instructions from the bride to pick something completely out of the ordinary so after trawling the internet we came up with an off-road karting experience.

The bride isn't exactly the best driver so I knew she'd see the funny side to an off-road karting experience. When I told her she took it as well as I'd imagined and she was well up for giving it a go with the rest of her hens.

In total there were six of us taking part and when we arrived at the site we were all raring to go. Before we were let loose in the karts though we had to change into our race-suits and sit through a short briefing. None of us had been on an off-road karting experience before, but the instructor was really good and told us how to get the best out of the karts during the briefing. So by the time we took the wheel we were experts.

With the briefing behind us it was finally time to put pedal to the metal, and we took it in turns to try and set the fastest lap time. We had a couple of laps to familiarise ourselves with everything, but once we were happy it was a flat out race to the finish line. The karts were even faster than I'd imagined and the adrenalin rush of driving them is insane. I felt like a real life racing driver!

I may have felt like a racing driver but my times definitely didn't reflect that, but some of the other girls set some seriously impressive times. As we predicted the bride came last, but that didn't spoil her day though and she loved our off-road karting experience just as much as the rest of us!
